The world didn’t end… so what now?

My children and I had fun yesterday, planning an “End of the World” party. The plans included popcorn, disaster movies and staying up late.

As the evening ticked on, they decided they didn’t want to watch disaster movies and we nixed the popcorn.  The family consensus was to watch a rerun of Doctor Who. After all, the world couldn’t end if The Doctor was still fighting for us, right?

One by one, the kids wandered off to bed, secure in the knowledge that Santa would stop by our house on Christmas Eve and tomorrow was right on schedule.

So what now?  Wide awake on the eve of Armageddon and the kids fast asleep…  that familiar pesky question popped up:  “What if?”

Changeling Press authors and readers are tempted every week with a “Flash Fiction Challenge.”  A theme is announced, 100-150 words. This week is Armageddon. What or who would you do if the world was ending?

What would I do? How would I want to spend my last few minutes?

You Matter

We stood still, looking at the brilliant streaks of light shooting through the sky. At any other time it would be a novelty. Tonight, it foreshadowed the end of the world. Catastrophic collision, meteors, it all ran together in a confusion of doom.

“Tony, I can’t just stand here waiting for the end. Take me home.”

He took my hand and led me back to our house. The white picket fence we’d so painstakingly put up last spring surrounded us with a false sense of serenity as we passed through the gate.

“Wait! What…?”  His low chuckle rumbled against my ear as he swept me off my feet and carried me over the threshold.  “Didn’t we already do this once?”

“It’s never too late to have a second honeymoon.”

“Did you forget the end of the world stuff?”

“Honey, you *are* my world. When I’m with you, nothing else matters.”

It’s been an interesting year with many challenges, tragedies, rewards and discoveries.  Just remember that YOU matter.

The fact that you exist and participate in this wild, wacky world of ours is a miracle that only you can perform.  So whether the world ends tomorrow or pulses on for a millennium more, you matter more than you’ll ever know.  Thank you for being a part of my world, and I hope in some small way that I’ve been a part of yours.

Where do you buy your books?

Hey everyone!  I’ve been working hard on my WIP’s and just realized that most of my books are now available on Amazon for your Kindle, computers, etc.  I have a Nook myself and use it constantly, but I am addicted to Amazon for movies, TV shows and just miscellaneous stuff.  I’ll buy a book on there if I can’t find it elsewhere, but prefer to put them on my Nook.

How about you? Where do you buy most of your books? Publisher’s website? Amazon? Barnes & Noble? All Romance Ebooks?

By the way, I’m in the middle of revamping my website, so look for some new designs soon! In the meantime, if you’d like to check out what I have available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, here are the links to my author pages there. I’d love it if you’d “like” my author page and my books pages so more people can find me there.

Valentine’s Day Blog Hop! Feb 11-14th, 2012

What’s a girl to do when Valentine’s Day is coming up and she has nothing to wear?

Use her imagination, of course! I think there’s nothing more sexy than an imagination… clothes get worn out, high heels break, lingerie gets torn off (woo hoo), but a great imagination never goes out of style.

It doesn’t cost a thing, you don’t have to wash it (in fact–the dirtier, the better!), and the older you get, the more sexy it is!  Where can you pick one of these handy-dandy doohickeys up?  Why, right at your local mom & pop shop, and you are the proprietor!

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!  If you are celebrating with a significant someone this year, make them feel special.  If you are spending it alone, make YOURSELF feel special (okay, do that whether you are with someone or not).  After all, the sexier you feel, the sexier you are!

** For the contest**

I’m giving away some love to someone who comments on this blog post by midnight on Valentine’s Day. I’d love to hear what you’re doing!

* Note: * If you’d like an extra entry, take a look at my website at and my books (either available or upcoming) and tell me which one(s) interest you and why. You can just comment in your post on here and it will receive two entries for the one post.

I’ll randomly choose the winner from the posts the day or two after Valentine’s Day.

You could win:

  • A $10 Barnes & Noble or gift card
  • A download of one of e-books from my backlist
Make sure to leave your e-mail address so I can contact you if you win!

Evil Snowmen and the Joys of Winter

Yesterday, my kids and husband made a snowman.  Innocent enough, right?  Everyone makes snowmen when it snows. However, I didn’t realize they were evil until last night.

It’s our first significant snow of the year.  Hot chocolate has never gone so fast.  Kids, friends, husband, dog–they’re all enjoying the cold white stuff.  I usually tend to watch the stuff from inside.

Back to the snowman.  They finished it just at dark last night.  Strange-looking, skinnier than most (apparently the snow didn’t want to stick together), with tree-hair, a carrot for a nose and branches for arms, it stood in the front yard all alone.  Our neurotic dog stood watch over the house (from the inside) while the creature was being constructed.  Her frequent barking and endless pacing I attributed to neighborhood dogs walking by.  She usually doesn’t bark at anything except an empty food bowl, or when you’re playing with her.

Evil Snowman (aka: The Enemy)

Evil Snowman (aka: The Enemy)

You know how they say dogs can sense things?

Apparently that snowman in the front yard is evil.  Pure, unadulterated evil.  During her nightly sojourn to do her ‘business’ before bed, our dog saw the creature.  It was bad.  Really bad.  She wouldn’t go anywhere near it.  My husband tried to introduce her to it and show her that it was just an innocent snowman.  You know, the slow, gentle introductions when you lead the dog over there and they realize they were being stupid?  Yeah–didn’t work.

I figured it was probably because it was dark outside. After all, the snowman was only lit by the front porch light, and it doesn’t really reach that far out into the yard. Of course the dog would think the shadowed, scary figure was a demon from snow-hell.  She’d be fine during the daylight, right?

Our sweet, neurotic dog stared out the window many times during the night, shoving her head under the curtain to make sure the creature didn’t attack the house.  Her rumbling growls and low barking woke us up several times.  At least we knew we were safe.

But alas, daylight brought no comfort.  According to the dog, the snowman is still evil.

She just stares out the window and paces, waiting for it to attack.  When she’s not sleeping in front of the heater, that is.  Even demons have to wait until she’s warm.

Six Sentence Sunday – A sexy little bit from my work in progress

My Six Sentence Sunday contribution for this week is a sexy snippet from a novella I have coming out with Changeling Press in March entitled Protect and Serve: Shifting Focus.  It’s an erotic romance–so be warned. 😉

 * * *

Background info:

Griff Monroe  is a government mercenary working undercover. He’s assigned to a case in San Francisco, California where Sophia Lorello works as a firefighter. To her extreme annoyance, she’s ordered away from her job to pick him up from the airport.

This scene is just as he comes out of the airport and sees her for the first time, deciding she’s the perfect cover for his mission.  So he greets her like a long-lost lover.  Surprise!

But when you’re going undercover to catch a killer, you never know who might be watching.

My breath catches as he kisses me, his lips firm and warm. The sultry scratch of his beard chafes my face in a way that makes every nerve ending stand up and take notice…twice. Every inch of my body comes alive as he moves closer, his hard to my soft—molding like hot, melted chocolate topping over a frosty bowl of ice cream.

The tip of his tongue teases the separation of mine, asking—not demanding—entrance. A shiver of anticipation slides up my spine, piquing my curiosity and flat-out drenching my panties with cream. I squirm, the aching rush of awareness flushing my good sense to somewhere south of Who-The-Fuck-Cares.

Hope you enjoyed the snippet!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all

It’s Christmas Eve here in Washington. We were hoping for a white Christmas our first year here, but it looks like it’s going to be a rainy one instead.

We’ve had our gingerbread cookies already (okay, the kids and my husband did–I can’t stand the stuff!).  Applesauce muffins are baking in the oven and the most delicious smells are wafting throughout the house.  We’ll decorate the tree tonight (after making sure the house is clean for Santa), snuggle up on the couch to watch some Christmas movies with popcorn and apple cider.

This is our first year in a new state, in a new home, and I am looking forward to celebrating both old traditions and making some new ones.

I would like to thank all of my readers, publishers, friends and family for making this a wonderful year! Without all of you, it would be a very lonely life indeed.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it, and Happy Holidays to include all of the other celebrations, traditions and dates of the year!  I hope the rest of this year and all the next are filled with huge packages of love, respect, romance, and tons of good books to read!
