Valentine’s Day Blog Hop! Feb 11-14th, 2012

What’s a girl to do when Valentine’s Day is coming up and she has nothing to wear?

Use her imagination, of course! I think there’s nothing more sexy than an imagination… clothes get worn out, high heels break, lingerie gets torn off (woo hoo), but a great imagination never goes out of style.

It doesn’t cost a thing, you don’t have to wash it (in fact–the dirtier, the better!), and the older you get, the more sexy it is!  Where can you pick one of these handy-dandy doohickeys up?  Why, right at your local mom & pop shop, and you are the proprietor!

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day!  If you are celebrating with a significant someone this year, make them feel special.  If you are spending it alone, make YOURSELF feel special (okay, do that whether you are with someone or not).  After all, the sexier you feel, the sexier you are!

** For the contest**

I’m giving away some love to someone who comments on this blog post by midnight on Valentine’s Day. I’d love to hear what you’re doing!

* Note: * If you’d like an extra entry, take a look at my website at and my books (either available or upcoming) and tell me which one(s) interest you and why. You can just comment in your post on here and it will receive two entries for the one post.

I’ll randomly choose the winner from the posts the day or two after Valentine’s Day.

You could win:

  • A $10 Barnes & Noble or gift card
  • A download of one of e-books from my backlist
Make sure to leave your e-mail address so I can contact you if you win!

Evil Snowmen and the Joys of Winter

Yesterday, my kids and husband made a snowman.  Innocent enough, right?  Everyone makes snowmen when it snows. However, I didn’t realize they were evil until last night.

It’s our first significant snow of the year.  Hot chocolate has never gone so fast.  Kids, friends, husband, dog–they’re all enjoying the cold white stuff.  I usually tend to watch the stuff from inside.

Back to the snowman.  They finished it just at dark last night.  Strange-looking, skinnier than most (apparently the snow didn’t want to stick together), with tree-hair, a carrot for a nose and branches for arms, it stood in the front yard all alone.  Our neurotic dog stood watch over the house (from the inside) while the creature was being constructed.  Her frequent barking and endless pacing I attributed to neighborhood dogs walking by.  She usually doesn’t bark at anything except an empty food bowl, or when you’re playing with her.

Evil Snowman (aka: The Enemy)

Evil Snowman (aka: The Enemy)

You know how they say dogs can sense things?

Apparently that snowman in the front yard is evil.  Pure, unadulterated evil.  During her nightly sojourn to do her ‘business’ before bed, our dog saw the creature.  It was bad.  Really bad.  She wouldn’t go anywhere near it.  My husband tried to introduce her to it and show her that it was just an innocent snowman.  You know, the slow, gentle introductions when you lead the dog over there and they realize they were being stupid?  Yeah–didn’t work.

I figured it was probably because it was dark outside. After all, the snowman was only lit by the front porch light, and it doesn’t really reach that far out into the yard. Of course the dog would think the shadowed, scary figure was a demon from snow-hell.  She’d be fine during the daylight, right?

Our sweet, neurotic dog stared out the window many times during the night, shoving her head under the curtain to make sure the creature didn’t attack the house.  Her rumbling growls and low barking woke us up several times.  At least we knew we were safe.

But alas, daylight brought no comfort.  According to the dog, the snowman is still evil.

She just stares out the window and paces, waiting for it to attack.  When she’s not sleeping in front of the heater, that is.  Even demons have to wait until she’s warm.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all

It’s Christmas Eve here in Washington. We were hoping for a white Christmas our first year here, but it looks like it’s going to be a rainy one instead.

We’ve had our gingerbread cookies already (okay, the kids and my husband did–I can’t stand the stuff!).  Applesauce muffins are baking in the oven and the most delicious smells are wafting throughout the house.  We’ll decorate the tree tonight (after making sure the house is clean for Santa), snuggle up on the couch to watch some Christmas movies with popcorn and apple cider.

This is our first year in a new state, in a new home, and I am looking forward to celebrating both old traditions and making some new ones.

I would like to thank all of my readers, publishers, friends and family for making this a wonderful year! Without all of you, it would be a very lonely life indeed.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it, and Happy Holidays to include all of the other celebrations, traditions and dates of the year!  I hope the rest of this year and all the next are filled with huge packages of love, respect, romance, and tons of good books to read!

It’s beginning to look a lot like… PRIZES!

Hey all!  I’m basking in the wintry weather up here in Washington. It’s almost like it’s December or something!  How strange is that?

I’m participating in the Stuff Your Stockings Blog Hop this year with almost 200 other authors~so start your hopping!

  • – I am giving away a $10 gift certificate to either or Barnes & so you can stock up on some of your favorite books for the holidays.
  • – I’ll also give away 2 books from my backlist, winner’s choice.
  • * All winners will be chosen from comments on my blog, so feel free to comment away!

I’ll roll them all little balls and have the new kitten, Gomez, snatch the winners at the end of the blog hop (he just LOVES smacking around paper!).

Why would I do something like this?  Well, I love the season, and I just can’t resist playing with the silly little kitten.  He showed up a few weeks ago after being caught by a pack of dogs out in the below-freezing weather. So we brought him in, doctored him up, thawed and fed him, and he never left.  It’s my husband’s fault, really.  Seriously, he’s a big old softy.

Okay, that and I have a brand-new holiday release at Changeling Press. White Hot Christmas: Christmas Stalkings is an erotic story about a very very naughty elf who just wants to please all the BIG boys and girls with his special brand of adult toys.

White Hot Christmas: Christmas Stalkings
by Cassidy McKay

What’s a Christmas Elf to do when he wants to sex up the North Pole a bit? Make adult toys, of course!

When Henry’s Elven magic goes awry, Santa’s workshop will never be the same.

Here’s a naughty excerpt from the story (rated R–be warned!)

Additional warnings: LAUGHTER & SPEW ALERTS — Do not attempt to drink any liquids during the reading of this story. This could cause major damage to electrical appliances, romantic evenings and scare the animals.  You’ve been warned.

Abby stumbled into the kitchen for a drink without bothering to turn the lights on. The ambient glow from the streetlight was usually enough for her to find her way. Yet tonight, the glow was absent.

Maybe it’s cloudy outside.

She felt her way along the wall and crossed the dining room toward the kitchen, only to run into a solid wall where there shouldn’t be one. Abby stuck out her hands, and felt… skin. Warm, solid, muscled, skin, dusted with hair. Male skin.

She screamed, prompting another warm, solid, muscled male body to slide behind her, his hand gently covering her mouth. She was bracketed by them in an almost naked Abby sandwich.

No way, Jose! I’ve seen this kind of movie too many times. I’m not gonna end up on the wrong side of a slasher film with screeching music after letting some strangers feel me up.

The man in front of her framed her face with his hands as if he wanted to kiss her, so she placed her palms on either side of his waist as he drew near, pulling him just a little bit closer.

The guy in front of her went down with a whimper, her sharp knee right on target. She flung her head back toward the man behind her, hoping he was close enough and short enough for her skull to hit him in the face.
She was correct on both guesses, and the second man went down. Abby ran for her cell phone and the front door, dialing 9-1-1 as she fumbled with the locks.

The phone went dead. Dropping the useless thing, she undid four of the locks by feel before she heard the men stirring. She shot a glance behind her and doubled her efforts, only to find all the locks re-secured when she turned the light on. “Holy crap! What the hell is going on?” I know I undid those locks. I’ve done it a thousand times.

“We’re your Christmas presents, Abby.” A man’s pained voice sounded from the bodies she’d left near the kitchen.

Abby turned toward them after glancing again at the dead cell phone. The locks, she couldn’t explain.

The men rose shakily, helping each other up. Two nearly identical “steaming hot, muscled hunks of love,” her girlfriends at work would call them. She could easily imagine her friends pushing each other out of the way to shove crisp dollar bills down the men’s tight, brightly colored little thongs.

Thongs in Chicago in December? Oh no. “Uhm… you said you were my Christmas presents?”

They nodded in tandem.

“Did Mandy and Kim send you? I told them not to get me anything for Christmas, damn it!”

The men shrugged, and the one with the bloodied nose pulled a towel away from his face. “We don’t know who sent us, Abby, just that we’re here to grant your every desire.”

“Great. How about you start by cleaning the bathroom? I hate doing that. Or are you strictly the dancing and dollar bill type?”

They glanced at each other in confusion, and she groaned when their eyes widened in obvious interest while they checked each other out. She had to admit, her friends definitely had good taste in eye candy. Completely delicious, from the top of their heads, past their broad, muscled chests, ripped abs, over their miniscule thongs, down their perfectly sculpted legs, and all the way down to their feet. One of which, on each man, was covered in an odd sock that looked suspiciously like the ones from her window sill.

She sighed in disappointment as they completely ignored her for each other. “The bathroom’s that way, guys.” She pointed down the hall, and strode into the bedroom to dress and down a couple of aspirin for the pounding headache she felt starting. “Just my luck. Two gorgeous men at my beck and call, bought and paid for… and they’re gay. Figures.” She shut the door on her fantasies and changed into her sweats.

* * *

“Oh yeah, shove it in there! Harder! Harder!”

The enthusiastic shout coming from her bathroom had Abby rushing to finish dressing. No way. No fucking way! They couldn’t be… not in her bathroom!

“Wait, it’s too tight.” The other voice sounded strained, panting hard. “I don’t think it’s going to fit — oh, there it goes!” A disgusting sound squirted wetly, the sound coming faster and faster as the men cheered themselves on, breathing harder and harder.

“Who knew there would be so much suction?”

“Damn, it’s kind of dirty, don’t you think?”

She stood outside the bathroom door, hesitating. It was swung closed, but not entirely shut. Just a little push, and it would swing open wider…

No, that would be disturbing their privacy.

Still unsure, she nudged the door with her foot. Oops. She peeked through the slight gap in the door, feeling kind of naughty, but ready for a little man-on-man action to liven up her Christmas Eve.

When Henry’s Elven magic goes awry, Santa’s workshop will never be the same.
Henry removed his socks, took a quick sniff and shrugged, then hung them on the windowsill. They looked oddly out of place in an apartment that had little to recommend it for the holiday season.
A siren wailed in the distance, quickly blending into the background noise of the city. Tilting his head, the Elf considered the implications of a siren, then ignored it. It’s not really breaking and entering if I didn’t break anything to enter, right?
He rummaged through several of his pockets to bring out a Christmas tree-shaped air freshener, brushed the lint off, and hung it on the window between the stockings with a little suction cup.
With a twinkle of his eye and a gentle twist to his left nipple ring, a bright purple pulse of magic surrounded the items and then faded away. He squinted, looking closer. It couldn’t have been purple. Christmas magic is supposed to be red and green.
He stood back to stare at his makeshift decorations. For a disbarred Elf, he hadn’t done too badly. At least The Claus hadn’t taken away his magic… yet. The hearing wasn’t until after the New Year, anyway.
His last attempt to bring a little joy into people’s lives rushed back as if it were only yesterday. Then he smiled in wry humor — it was only yesterday! But Holy Pointed Elven Ears, what a day…
* * *
Henry really hadn’t meant to cause a ruckus in the Toy Shoppe. He’d just tried to sex up the place a little bit. Everyone seemed to think Christmas Elves were little green androgynous drones with pointy ears, endlessly building toys for good little boys and girls.
Not Henry. Well, he did have the pointy ears, and he did like to build toys. But he really preferred adult toys. He’d brought some of his new inventions to work to present to Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the Approval Committee. Unfortunately, his magic was rather unpredictable at best — and the toys he invented were made with magic.
Foregoing the simple red and green Christmas magic Elves usually used to make toys, he preferred using the rarer, more dangerous purple magic — the kind adult Elves used in secret. However, his attempts at building toys using either type of magic didn’t always make them work the way they were intended to, no matter how good his intentions.
Yesterday’s incident probably fell into the “Worse than disastrous” category. He’d finally been invited to show the Committee his inventions. He was nervous, but he’d put on a good face, even when minor things started going haywire. Things went from bad to worse faster than a reindeer could land on a rooftop.
First, Santa reached into the sack on the table before the Committee and brought out what looked like a toy statue. The tiny female figure it portrayed was buxom, to say the least. The old man’s eyebrows rose and his glasses slipped down his nose when he noticed her black leather corset, short skirt and thigh-high leather boots. Santa’s brows knit together and he glanced at Henry, ignoring the Elf’s frantic scrambling to grab the statue.
“No Santa, don’t push that button, I haven’t fixed it yet…”
Santa pushed the button on the back of the statue.
In the twinkle of an eye and a whirl of purple sparkling magic, the outfit disappeared from the statue, leaving a fully developed, anatomically correct doll, complete with pierced nipples and neatly shaven pubes.
Henry watched as Santa’s mouth dropped open in shock and the old man’s knit brows whipped into a furious frown. “Henry!”
“Santa, I can explain…”
The loud, shared gasp coming from the Committee cut Henry’s explanation short. Santa turned quicker than a wink to see his formerly demure wife now dressed in the wicked outfit that had just been on the doll.
The black leather gear revealed a savagely curved, white-haired, vintage sex goddess worthy of hours of devoted worship. The lethal-looking whip dangling from her hand only added to the spicy image.
Santa’s tenting pants told Henry he noticed, too. More tents arose from the Committee. Could this be a tentative approval?
Mrs. Claus cautiously moved the whip in her hand, watching it writhe with the slightest touch. A naughty smile curved her lips as she gave the whip a swift crack, landing a satisfying snap near Santa. She raised an eyebrow, looking first at Henry, then the doll, and finally at her husband advancing toward her with a telltale twinkle in his eye.
Henry suddenly remembered the other magic he’d installed with the doll. Attitude Plus. Inhibitions zero. “Uhm, Santa? You might want to reconsider…”
“Shut up, Henry,” Mr. and Mrs. Claus said in tandem, their eyes locked on one another.
Mrs. Claus turned toward the door, her deliciously shaped ass outlined in smooth black leather. She walked away in the fuck-me-heeled boots as if born to lead, striding forward with a swinging gait as the leather skirt danced around the top of her dimpled thighs. She turned the lock on the Committee door with a quiet snick.

Six Sentence Sunday post for December 4, 2012

A Candle in the Window by Cassidy McKay available now at Cobblestone Press.

Here’s my entry for this week’s Six Sentence Sunday. It’s from my erotic Christmas paranormal A Candle in the Window available at Cobblestone Press.

Set up:  Shelby has traveled to her recently deceased grandmother’s home to pack up her things before selling it. They have been estranged for years, and Shelby finds a letter from her grandmother that hints at the paranormal side of her family…

This cabin has been left to you, my darling Granddaughter.  You may do with it as you wish, however, please consider staying here and making this your home.  Our family has roots here, far back in time, and we are connected to the canyon behind this cabin.  The wind whispers to us.  Those who choose to hear are blessed, although many may fear the unknown.  If you choose to hear the winds, Shelby, heed their words, for they carry warnings as well as good tidings.

It’s WHAT?!!

It’s a beautiful day up here in Washington.  The sun is shining, mist rising over the forests, frost on the ground and the crisp chilly air of December bites playfully at my cheeks in the morning.

What’s that you say? December already? Why yes, that’s what the little doohickey in the corner of my computer says.  Someone on Facebook mentioned it was Friday, too.  Yes, I had to look at my faithful little doohickey in the corner again.  Friday. I think it’s lying to me. I could have sworn it was only Wednesday, and no later than September.  Where did the time go?

I’ll admit that I lose time regularly. As a voracious reader, I travel to all sorts of places in books–different times, different locations, even different worlds. I’ll easily lose days in books, I’ve done it since I was a young girl.

But months?  Wow.  Maybe I should look into the alien abduction thing.  Oh wait–I think I know where those months went.  At least parts of them.

  • October I spent some of that time playing with a naughty elf who was trying to sex up Santa’s Toy Shoppe.  Poor Santa and Mrs. Claus will never be the same.
  • November I spent lost in NaNoWriMo, playing in a post-apocalyptic Earth with shifters and paranormals, and writing the first of a series of three books, and partials on the other two in that series.

Now it’s December.  Since September, I’ve set up several chats, some upcoming blog hop tours (more on that later), did a few guest blogs, wrote two books, four partials, and fought off plot bunnies in their devious attempts to derail me (unsuccessfully fought off, I might add). I’ve also received two contracts on two of those books from Changeling Press!  Woo Hoo!  Here they are:

White Hot Christmas: Christmas Stalkings releases December 17th, 2011.  If you’re looking for a *very* crazy time and want to have some naughty laughs this Christmas, you might enjoy it.

Protect and Serve: Shifting Forces is tentatively scheduled for sometime in February, 2012.

So I guess there’s a reasonable explanation to the missing month phenomenon after all–at least this time.  But I still think the computer is lying to me–how can it be Friday already?

Where does YOUR missing time go?

Six Sentence Sunday – Nov. 20, 2011

Here’s my post for this week’s Six Sentence Sunday, from my work in progress:

I have nothing to offer her, no way to win against the horde of rogues racing to their deaths, and the subsequent branch of para’s chasing the humans. I hate to fight.

Against my will, I feel the fiery burn as my clothes drop away. The rush of adrenaline flows through me—scintillating, arousing, powerful. My bones shift, transforming arms into wings, flesh into fire, and common sense into passionate fury. Lifting into the sky with a rush, one thought consumes me:

Six Sentence Sunday!

“We have to finish what we came here for, or none of us will be safe.”  Both of us run to the edge of the roof as the battle rages far below us.  In an instant we both shift, jump off the roof and race toward almost certain death. Whether we die in the battle or die in a shifter’s court martial afterward, neither of us is going to live to tell the tale to our mate.

But we are shifters—military—and that means honor.  Even if it kills us.

I just found out about a neat thing–Six Sentence Sunday!

I love the idea, where you can post  six sentences from something you have written. It can be from a work in progress, something already finished, or just something you come up with on the spur of the moment.   So this was my first contribution.

The official Six Sentence Sunday site is at if you’d like to learn more.
